Personality: Obie is a real social butterfly when it comes to both people and equines, both of whom he enjoys the company of and seems to naturally get along with. He’s a reasonably vocal horse, he’s not at all afraid to express himself and noise seems to be his most frequently used method of doing so. He’s not difficult to catch in the paddock provided you bring treats in which case he’ll come along happily without any fuss. If you forget to bring treats though god help you because you’ll have a really tough time catching him. He’ll demand treats as noisily as he can from anyone who passes his stall too. In general though Obie severely dislikes being kept in his stall for any length of time and he’ll quite literally kick up a fuss if anyone tries to do so. He much prefers being in his paddock where he can roam freely and socialise with other horses. Other than that though the colt is relatively easy going and doesn’t cause too much trouble. Racing Style: Mid-Pack Obie’s hard-working attitude and determinedness shine through when he races. He enjoys what he does immensely and never fails to give his all in a race. He does have a tendency to buck to show his excitement before a race but he appears to get most of it out of his system beforehand in the parade ring and by the time he’s in the gates he’s totally focused. He has a lovely smooth gait which always makes him a pleasant ride and rarely gives his jockey any trouble. The colt likes to run with the pack, enjoying being in the thick of it where the action is, although he will sometimes start to lean on the other horses a bit. He makes his move around the final turn for the most part where he’s able to accelerate very effectively around the turn, generally putting him in an ideal position to power towards the lead in the stretch.
